After wasting time and money in an enigma card that never worked more than 2 days in a row nor more than once a month, I found a low-cost, feature-rich receiver that seemed promising. Its cost was the same as the enigma card I tried for more than 6 months (89 bucks), and save for a little trouble caused by the wrong cable being shipped with the unit (you need a NULL MODEM, not Serial cable), the configuration was a snap.
Actually, that was the main decision criterion, given that I am a technically-savvy person with no FTA knowledge: I wanted a unit that would require minimal configuration, and the Captain line of FTA receivers do a great job with their One-Button-Setup (OBS). I also considered other, pricier receivers, but my budgetary constraints added to the fair job the Captain Team did won the decision to give it a try. In two weeks, It's been down once and I must say that I was very impressed by the speed at which an update was out: within hours (compared to enigma card team which takes weeks). Right now, most receivers are down again, but I am confident that this receiver will do a great job. I love the picture quality on my plasma TV, the EPG and CC work great, unlike on some other models. The various options and the universal remote make great additions, but the bottom line is that the Captain 7000 Premium has an outstanding set of features, and for the price you would pay for it (from gosatellite.net BTW, who deserve an A+ for the way they dealt with me from the first moment to the cable issue resolution), it is an unbeatable deal.
