Real Bad Remote Control User rated 3/5

The picture is good. The support is good. But the Remote Control is real bad. The important keys (Previous, TV/Radio) that you use all the time are far away to the top or bottom. The least used ones are at the 4-way navigation. How often do you use the Audio key (used to change the language), Speakers (used for Left/Right and both)? Many other keys do not actually apply to the CNX Mini, they are only used with the Duo and Trio.

BTW, the remote will interfere with Teac CD Players and some other brands. So, which changing the volume, you might end up changing something else on the Teac.

Great budget receiver User rated 4/5

Let's get the negatives out of the way first:

1) Confusing set up for first-timer. I had to flash factory. Then upgrade bootloader. THEN apply another patch. Definitely not THAT newbie-friendly.
2) Sloooow channels scanning. It took at least 10 minutes to scan 110/119. SLOW! Very slow! Even my CW800 was faster than this box. And especially after using the Neosat iPro 2000. (The menus and everything else is nice and fast though).
3) EPG is far from perfect. I turned on EPG. Pressed the Red button twice to load Dish EPG... Took FIVE minutes to populate... only to find out that I got 4 hours of EPG. Had to do it manually by leaving the box on chan 239.

Ok, now to the good news:

1) Visually, the box looks awesome. I bought the white limited edition (a few dollars more) and it looks stunning! Matches my Xbox360 (which I have under the box) perfectly. Beautiful! The menus/EPG are nice too.
2) After my CW800 remote, the CNX Mini's RCU was a HUGE step up. Buttons responsive, nice size and good sensor.
3) Great video quality :) Definitely sharper than the CW800 (not by much since it's still SD).
4) It has PVR! Not advanced PVR but you can set up timer and record channels. Great bonus.

I got mine on ebay for $135 shipped. Got it in 2 days. CW800 used to be the best value receiver for me. Not anymore :)
